Deadlines and Drinking

So I have this deadline for tomorrow for my 1st year report, I have a presentation to prepare for Wednesday and what do I decide would be the best thing to do? I went to ANOTHER BBQ yesterday! The inevitable set of pics can be found here.

I think the worst thing about the barbecues is the drinking - it makes you look stupid, say stupid things and generally unsteady (sorry about the cushion Sarah!). Aside from wasting time, it allowed me to end up feeling a bit delicate this morning and unable to have the volume up for the Monaco Grand Prix, which was actually quite exciting for a change.

Anyway, back to work now....

Here comes the summer sun....

A bit of sun is all it takes to get people thinking that it's summer. The shades come out, accompanied by numerous nobbly knees (mine included). Anyway, we thought that we couldnt bear to let the good weather pass us by so on Tuesday we had a picnic outside the Roscoe building, knees and all. I managed to sneak a few shots of people, much to their distress, and I have put them online for the world to see. Here is a sample (click to enlarge).

You can see them and many more on my picture page!

Enjoy!

It's so RONG

No, thats not a spelling mistake.

Rong is a version of pong played in a circular playing field. Strangely
addictive, this game starts off easy but gets difficult very quickly.

This game needs Flash Player, availble for mozilla and variants on Linux href="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/flash/english/linux/6.0r81/install_flash_player_6_linux.tar.gz">here

New Pictures

I have finally got round to posting some more pics on my family pics page. I have been meaning to put this lot up since before Christmas but I have juest been too lazy busy to get round to it.

Here is a sample pic (click to enlarge):

I hope you like them and all of the others on my Family Pictures Page.

Not much else new except for a bit of a celebration for Farah finishing her corrections to her thesis. Hooray for Dr. Farah!

Work, Work, Work

Like all the other 1st Year PhD students, I have to write a 30-50 page report on the work I have done in the six months I have been here. I'm also scheduled to give a talk about the same stuff a couple of days after the report is due in. I'm not having much luck at the moment - as usual it's getting started that seems to be the problem and I can't seem to find any inspiration.

For now though, here is a cool movie clip that you may have seen but is worth watching again: Really bendy dancing guy! - 3.3MB (Windows media files can be played by MPlayer on Linux)

Not very helpful for my report but never mind. Oh well, I always did work best the night before a deadline...

Badgers!

This is so funny.

Go check it out.

Test Post

Hi again,

Just a test to check out some more functionality. I am creating this entry by sending an email to a secret address. It avoids me having to go through all the hassle of the blogger.com user interface.

If you fancy having a go at creating a blog of your own why dont you check them out?

Games Ahoy!

Not likely to be of too much interest to most around here, but the Electonic Entertainment Expo - E³ - has kicked off in L.A. Much new information to be had about upcoming games and the like, Including this rather strange looking thing from Nintendo called the DS - Dual Screen?

There is also a new Zelda game, if you like that sort of thing (Click pic to enlarge)

Plenty more info to be had on all the latest happenings at http://www.ign.com/e3/2004/

Beginnings

Just trying to see if this Blogger thing will work or not.
Hopefully it will, and poeple will have the chance to read my ramblings!
