Knackered

So, as predicted, I managed to get very little work done today because of demonstrating. What little work I did get done was on the train from Stoke-On-Trent back to Manchester. I was (and still am) really tired as I had to get up really early so that I could get back here, change and shower and get to the physics department all before 10 am. Not cool.

I did however manage to apply for a job at RAL in Oxford, so the day is not entirely wasted. If nothing else, I should be happy that I accomplished something (potentially) useful

The day was finished off by a trip to the pub with many of the students and some of the members of staff. The volume of alcohol consumed, combined with my lack of sleep seems to be urging me on to finish this off and go to bed. No clever jokes here, I am just knackered!

It's Not My Fault!

So I managed to get very little done today as I was in Stoke-On-Trent fixing my sister's PC and wireless network and "everything". It gives me some sense of satisfaction to be useful though - who doesn't want to feel needed?

Never the less, the fact remains that I got very little in the way of my thesis done. I did manage to start filling in a job application which is due in tomorrow (!) which is kind of interesting. I have been avoiding the idea of the real world after Uni as much as possible but I guess I am going to have to grow up at some point.

That's all well and good, but the fact is that I am not going to get much done tomorrow either since I am teaching programming in C to the 2nd year undergraduates. It seems like the idea of posting every day is only going to highlight my lack of progress. At least for today and tomorrow I can exclaim in true Han Solo/Lando Calrissian style - "It's not my fault!"

Daily Reports?

So I have managed to get a shockingly small amount of my thesis written today, but I thought that if I make myself post a daily progress report, then I would at least try and do some work to avoid the shame of posting "I have done nothing today" day after day after day.

Looks like the idea of me posting more regularly might pan out after all. I hope you are happy Anu. :P

Blog is fixed again.

I am sure that the millions of people who read this blog every day in the hope that I will share my "wisdom", such as it is, will remember me complaining about blogger randomly changing their HTML structure so that it broke my layout. If not here is a reminder:

http://www.hep.man.ac.uk/u/shiv/blog/2005/06/blog-is-broken.html

Poking around inside the settings on for my blog, I found out that you can actually disable the tags that wrecked everything for me. Having done that and re-re-jigged my template, things are now back to normal. The layout probably STILL doesn't work in Internet Explorer, but that's a different matter. People should be using Firefox or at least Opera anyway.

Stop your moaning

So, apparently I don't update my blog enough. Enough for what isn't entirely clear though. A couple of people have pointed this out to me on serveral occasions so I thought I would make a token effort to get them to stop them complaining.

Happy now?

Good.
